iSupervise allows you to administer ANY test, ANYWHERE. An iSupervise session is a remotely administered session that uses the respondents webcam to allow the session administrator to monitor the entire process of the test administration. To administer an iSupervise session only the respondent requires a webcam installed on their computer. iSupervise allows the administrator full control over the administration of the test, even allowing the termination of a test if the administrator is unhappy with what they see. The administrator can also monitor precisely where the respondent is on the test at any time, as all items are tracked on the session screen for you to see. iSupervise may also be used to test groups of respondents simultaneously. iSupervise can handle many webcam connections at once, however, the quality of the picture may be affected due to the high data load of the multiple video connections. As an iSupervise session is completed remotely, the respondent is sent an email invitation prior to the testing date, in a similar way as the standard Unsupervised sessions. At the agreed time, the respondent will launch the questionnaire, test their webcam is working correctly via our system, and then wait for authorisation to begin the test. While the respondent is waiting for authorisation they may chat with the administrator using the instant messenger provided. When the administrator is happy that all is ready, they can continue with the standard instructions and authorise the test.

| To Add an iSupervise session click on the “Add” button in the Sessions column. The middle column will now change to allow you to select which session type you wish to use. Select iSupervise from the list of available sessions. At the top of the column enter a brief description of the session and enter an expiry date to the right. The brief description will serve as a title for the session, and can allow you to identify it at a later date. An expiry date is set for an iSupervised session so as to prevent respondents from attempting to complete the test once your testing date has passed. Once you have entered this information you can save the session by clicking on the “Save” button above the middle column. There are also two optional fields that can be completed. The Email Introduction and the Welcome Text. Email Introduction & Welcome TextSelect the Templates to use from the drop down menus, or alternativly create a new template by clicking on the red arrow next to the menus. |

| Once you have created you session, you will then need to add your respondents to it. Make sure you have the correct session selected in the left hand column, and then press the “Add” button in the Respondent column. To the right enter the respondents name, email address, and which test they will be completing. As this is an iSupervise session you are given access to all available tests whether they are typically only allowed in a supervised fashion or not. An iSupervise session is as reliable as a supervised session. Once you have entered the relevant data click “Save”. When ready you need to invite your respondent(s) to the testing session. To do this, click on the iSupervise icon next to the respondents name. It will flash it indicate the email is being sent. If you click this icon again at any time an extra copy of the email will be sent. The next part of the iSupervise administration is split into two parts, what the respondent needs to do, and what the administrator needs to do. Respondent The respondent will receive the invitation to the test in the email inbox. At this point, it is best for the respondent to ensure they have their webcam installed and that it is functional. At a pre-arranged time the respondent will click on the link that is contained in the invitation email. The web browser will now be launched and the respondent can login to the test. As this is an iSupervise session the first screen after the data protection agreement will be a webcam test page. The system will ask permission to use the installed webcam, to which the respondent must agree. If the webcam is installed correctly they will see an image of themselves, allowing them to position the webcam correctly. When the respondent and the webcam are ready they can continue. If there is no image displayed, the webcam is not functioning correctly, and the respondent may need to try re-installing it. Typically, if the webcam uses a USB connection, this will simple need to cable to be removed from the computer, waiting a few seconds, and then connecting it again, possible to another USB port if one is available. The respondent will now be taken to the waiting screen. They can not progress beyond this screen without authorisation from the administrator. At this point either the respondent or the administrator can instigate a chat session using the instant messenger. When the administrator authorises the respondent, a forward arrow will appear at the bottom of the screen. The respondent should click on this arrow, and begin the testing session. The Administrator Once the invitation has been sent, it is simply a matter of waiting for the allocated time of the testing session. If the administrator is logged into the system, in the correct session, they will see the icon next to the respondents name become active with the live video feed from the respondents web cam. If the respondent is trying to speak with the administrator, an icon will blink indicating that a chat is pending. To launch the chat window, double click on the video, or on the flashing icon. If the icon is not blinking, the administrator can instigate their own chat by double clicking on the video, which enlarges the screen, and opens the instant messenger. The administrator should now ensure that the respondent is ready to begin. Ensure the location where the respondent is based is empty, and follow all typical standards to ensure the test is conducted correctly. When happy that the respondent is ready, right click on their name, and select authorise respondent. You can now tell the respondent to begin. You can now monitor the progress of the respondent, either in the large view, or in the small view, where you can also see the progress of the respondent, as each item is tracked. When complete, the video connection will be closed, and the results will automatically be saved. If at any time the administrator becomes aware of any wrong doings by the respondent they can pause the test by right clicking on their name, and selecting the pause option from the menu. A paused session can be re-started, however, if the administrator feels it necessary to pause a session, then typically it is not seen as appropriate to continue, especially if the assessment is an ability test.

| Sessions are automatically deleted after one year. However, if you wish to delete your session before that, select the session that you wish to delete from the Session column, then right click on it. You will be offered a menu of actions to perform with the session. Select Delete from the menu. Please Note: The Delete function is a destructive operation. By deleting a session you will lose it and any respondents from within the session. If you wish to keep the respondents data you can select all the respondents within the session, right click on them and select “cut”. You can now select another session to paste them into. |

Problems with EmailsPersonal or company firewalls can sometimes be set to block emails that contain links to external websites. If a respondent does not complete the test in a timely manor it is important to check with them to see if they have received their invitations. If the invitation has gone astray, the respondent should check their junk email folder for the invitation, or if necessary check with their IT department that the emails are not being automatically blocked. It is also possible to request that the invitations are cc’d to you. By doing this it will be possible for you to let them know the alternative log in method. To do this click on the “Setup” button at the top left of the screen, and put a tick in the box marked “cc all invitations”. If the respondent still fails to receive the email, it might be best to try sending the invitation to another external email address, such as Hotmail or similar. Problems with Flash PlayerGeneSys Online requires that you have Adobe Flash Player version 8 or above installed on your computer, the same goes for your respondents. It is possible that certain companies prevent the use or installation of Adobe Flash Player. Adobe now suggest that over 90% of the world has Flash Player 8 or higher installed. If it is therefore the case that your respondent can not launch the test it is best to request that the latest version of Flash Player is installed by the IT department. If this is not possible check to see if the respondent can email their invitation to themselves to access at home.If the respondent can launch the test, but the screen appears to be jumbled, it means that either they have an older version of Flash installed, or that the version that they do have has not installed correctly. Ask this respondent to download and install the latest version of Flash Player from Adobe. |
